Lethal Weapon 4 Intro

Lethal Weapon 4 was released in 1998 and it stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as the lead rolls. The introduction for this film is very long nearly 6 mins. The camerawork is mostly reverse shot as there is alot of dialogue between Martin and Roger the LAPD officers and long/medium shots to capture the set or the actions of the flamethrower. There are around 70 to 80 edits, the edits are fairly fast as this
opening is dramatic and racy and so the fast edits keep in style with the genre of the film.
There is no music only dialogue and of course background sound. The background sound is huge noises from the explosion and fire burning sounds from the flamethrower also police car tyres screeching as well as police radios being heard.

The genre of the film is introduced right from the beginning as when the production company Warner Brothers. Pictures logo appears it suddenly goes up in flames. They have Incorporated the genre into the Warner Brothers logo, this grabs the audiences attention right from the beginning as this is not expected. The dialogue of course tells us what genre the film is, the situation in which the characters are in is serious, however the dialogue between the two actors is not which makes the situation funny. Therefore the genre is also comedy, which i think is hard to introduce into an action thriller but it is well done.

The opening of this film gives a big impact and i think it's unforgettable that's why i choose it. The explosion that happens towards the end of the opening is huge, it's so huge it quite amazing how they managed to do it. This ending of the introduction i think makes the audience want to see more of the film.
